I Am GHOST BLOGGER: High Gas Prices Are Driving Relationships To The Web

It seems to me we're going to have to plan our lives more carefully...shopping trips, family and friend get-togethers, etc. Maybe we'll all actually break down and CAR POOL once in awhile!

    work from home anyone?

Work from home? Naaaaaaah. Corporate America can't handle such forward thinking.

But seriously... I truly hope that a digital commute is in store for most of the world, here in the very near future.

I appreciate the point you are making, but perhaps economics will drive evolution? I don't think that 10-12 years from now we are going to be using petrol as a fuel source (for cars). Large companies like shell are sponsoring competitions where vehicles are achieving hundred of miles per gallon of gas. if this is already hapenning, then we're not far off from either not being reliant on gas as much, or at all.

    Just my 2.0 cents!

Great point lenkendall, but my only concern is that because these innovative vehicles will be so new, will anyone be able to afford them when they debut?
  • luda1978 · 1 year ago
That's true. I think the vehicles will be a little out of reach for the average income at first debut. Although I cannot wait to not rely on gas so much!!!

Nice post -- but I urge you to use more caution in using the word "world." We live in America, where for many generations $12-15 a gallon was far-fetched. But in many other parts of the world, it's much closer to reality and has been that way for quite a long time. I agree with the spirit of your position, but out of respect for diverse cultures with diverse approaches to consumption of the world's finite resources -- please don't confuse America with "the world."

I totally understand where you're going with your argument, Paul. I'm not going to say WHY I agree with your point, because I don't wanna step on anyone's toes, but I do.

However, I still feel that the "World" fits into this article. Energy conservation is a worldwide issue, not just an American issue. Sure, the prices for energy may differ in various countries, but the core problem remains the same.

Not gonna happen. We'll have oil rigs ripping the hell out of the gulf before it gets to $ 6/gal. the US economy RUNS on oil, like it or not. At $12-15/gal groceries will cost 10 X more than they do today. I guarantee you companies won't be transporting goods cross country on BIKES. Until they invent the friggin teleporter or something like it - like cars that run on crap, we'd better get to digging before it's too late...
